Goodbye Austin
This year’s SxSWi was such a blast. As always, it’s not because of the panels, though I saw plenty of great presentations. It’s not about the beautiful weather, since the rain spoiled that for us this year.
And it’s not even about the stack of business cards that I end up sorting through at home.
For the second year in a row, for me, it’s about the people. The countless conversations, laughs, opinions, introductions, re-introductions, and familiar faces make the whole event worthwhile.
Let’s hit a few highlights:
- The Avalonstar Bowling Extravaganza
- Chatting with Dan Cederholm about being a father
- The Will Wright keynote
- Having all four Sidebar guys all together in the same place (exactly twice)
- Shaun serenading us on the bus with my guitar
- The Virb/Pure Volume party(ies)
- Wii Bowling and Tennis
- Seeing The Art and Science of CSS for the first time, and signing a few copies
I’m sure I’ll remember more, but that’s a good start. Here’s a few things I want to accomplish for next year:
- Stay away from too much Red Bull
- Be on a panel (I’ve got some good ideas floating around)
- Get more sleep (yeah right, but I’ll put it on anyway)
- Book my hotel in the Courtyard Marriott again
- Use caution when partying with Garrett Dimon
Thanks for the memories folks. Keep in touch, and I’ll see you again next year, if not sooner.
